Scenic Rim adventurer and father three, Scott Bennie, says dads should celebrate Father’s Day by taking a micro adventure with their kids.
Micro-Adventures are small-scale adventures that can involve hiking, bike riding, canoeing or camping and are accessible to people of all abilities.
Scott says his own backyard – the Scenic Rim – is a haven for easily-accessible micro adventures.
“A family micro-adventure should be fun, recharge your batteries and give everyone sense of achievement,” he says.
“It’s about getting away from technology, outdoors and doing something different, together as a family. The first place to start is in your local area and a great activity to start with is a short hike. The challenge level needs to suit the age range, experience and fitness of your family.”
Scott says being dad to three boys aged eight to 12, inspired him to create a social media campaign to encourage other families to make adventure a priority.
He now shares his own family adventures online via his Sons of Adventure Instagram and Facebook profiles.
Scott’s top five Scenic Rim micro adventures are:
- Mt French Lookout
- Sandy Creek Circuit, Tamborine National Park
- Mountain bike Shoreline Track, Wyaralong Dam
- Mt Mitchell, Main Range National Park
- Hike to Lower Portals, Mt Barney National Park.
